Description

"Accidents hurt, safety doesn't."

Home Safety Day is a day to give your house a wellness check. Your family's health and wellbeing depend on it.

Always repair water leaks as soon as possible. Unaddressed leaks can create mold.

Check windows and door locks. Make sure they work properly, and that you can easily unlock them from the inside in order to easily exit the property.

Inspect your windows. You should be able to open them freely.

Remove clutter from all hallways, and away from windows and exterior doors.

If you have gas appliances, have them checked at least once a year.

Make sure you have a visible address at the front of your property, so that first responders can easily locate your property, if there is an emergency.

Keep your household well lighted

If you own a pool, ensure that flotation devices are readily available. Non-swimmers should wear a life jacket at all times. Always have a swimmer on duty when the pool is in use. Install door alarms on all doors leading to the pool area. Additionally, consider taking a water safety course and swimming lessons.
