Join us for our 2024 "SHELTER DAYa day dedicated to acknowledging the significant impact our local shelters have on the community and its residents.

Supporting a shelter's daily needs can be done by donating items from their wish list or by volunteering your time. Assistance is not only needed today but every day, as shelter services are a round-the-clock necessity for those who rely on various forms of assistance.

  • On any given night, more than 300,000 American men, women, and children stay in shelters. 
  • Over 550,000 Pets in America are in shelters on any given night.
  • Over 1 million Americans veterans live under the poverty level.
  • 1 in 10 adults aged 18-25 will experience homelessness each year in the U.S.
  • 8% living in shelters are under 18
  • 40% of homeless youth are living unsheltered
  • Around 2.5 million children are homeless annually in the U.S.
  • Over 13 million kids are living with hunger
  • 1 in 5 kids are food deprived
  • $180 provides diapers and wipes for 2 months for one child
  • 1 in 2 U.S households with young children struggle to afford diapers and wipes necessary to keep their children clean, dry and healthy.
  • 16.7 million adults over the age of 60 live alone
  • On any single night, over 140,000 adults over the age of 55, spend the night on the street in the U.S.

    Of all veterans, 1 in 4 are between 70 and 79. Over half of these live alone.

  • Almost 60 million Americans are over 65 years of age

  • Around 8 million live in poverty, and have income below $14,000 per year

  • There are over 600,00 homeless individuals living on American streets, 100,000 are children and more than 30,000 are Veterans.
